GEORGE METAXAS



George Metaxas is a dedicated oncoplastic breast surgeon. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the European Board of Surgery for Breast Surgery and has been awarded European Cerification in Breast Surgical Oncology (BRESO). He is a member of ESSO and EUSOMA.


George qualified in Medicine from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece, where he completed his training in General Surgery and postgraduate studies (PhD Medicine, MSc Health Management) before moving to the UK.


He started his subspecialty training in breast surgery at the University Hospitals of Leicester Breast Care Center. He then undertook a research fellowship in breast surgery and received an MPhil diploma from the University of Manchester – School of Cancer studies. He completed his higher surgical training in oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery at Manchester Breast Unit UK as an International Breast Fellow.


Following the completion of his training, George was appointed with fixed term contracts as a Consultant at Northwick Park Hospital London, as a Honorary Consultant at North London Screening Service and as a Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London Medical School. He then worked for a year at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge Breast Unit, before taking up a substantive Consultant Breast Surgeon post at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham. George is currently practicing in Athens Greece at “Elena Venizelos” & “Konstantopouleio” general hospitals as Head of the 2nd department of Surgery and clinical lead for breast surgery.
